The following are facts on the 22 June Champions Trophy match between Spain and South Korea.

 

Champions Trophy Head-to-heads
> In six matches against Spain at the Champions Trophy, South Korea have the upper hand by having compiled a won-drawn-lost record of 3-1-2.
> However, South Korea have never beaten Spain at the World Cup or in the Olympic Games. The two are scheduled to meet in Beijing on 19 August, on the final matchday in Group A.
> Spain's last victory over South Korea dates back to 18 June 1999, when the Iberians triumphed 4-3.
> Last year, these sides met in their opening match in Kuala Lumpur which resulted in a 2-2 draw. Spain jumped out to a 2-0 lead through goals by Eduard Arbos (1') and Eduard Tubau (PS 21'), but the Asians clawed their way back courtesy of strikes by Jong-Hyun Jang (PC 34') and Nam-Yong Lee (48').

> Spain have now failed to win the opening match in their last three CT participations.
> Spain's opening day defeat against Holland put an end to a four match winning streak in the Champions Trophy for Maurits Hendriks' side.

Team Facts South Korea
> South Korea's 5-3 defeat in their opening match against Australia meant the Asians are now without a victory in their last four CT matches.
> The Koreans maintained their sharpness in front of goal. They have now scored at least twice in each of their last six Champions Trophy matches.

Player Facts Spain
> Xavier Ribas signed his name to Spain's only goal in the opening match. The veteran has now netted six times in his Champions Trophy career.
> Santi Freixa was kept at bay and remains on 25 career Champions Trophy. He remains two shy of Spain's all-time record held by Javier Arnau (27).

Player Facts South Korea
> Having scored his 13th career CT goal in the opening match, Woon Kon Yeo is now the closest player in pursuit of Korea's all-time Champions Trophy top scorer Seong Tae Song (17 goals).
> Yeo has scored in his last two CT matches and teammate Nam Yong Lee has netted in his last three Champios Trophy matches.
> In the opening match, Jong Hyun Jang laid the foundation for defending the top scorer crown he shared with Taeke Taekema in 2007.
